About this index
The Big Mac Index compares the price of one sandwich across countries. The Economist publishes local-currency prices twice a year; this page holds those prices fixed and recomputes their dollar value every day against the European Central Bank's exchange rates (via Frankfurter), so a currency that moves between releases shows up here the next morning. A country whose Big Mac costs more in dollars than the American one reads as overvalued, less as undervalued.
The map colours each country by that gap; the table beneath it lists every country with its local price, today's dollar price and the implied exchange rate, and the slider runs the series back to 1986. The data is The Economist's (CC BY 4.0) and the boundaries are Natural Earth's. Nothing here is investment advice; it is a sandwich.
