🇰🇷 South Korea · Family: Paris Baguette · Region: South Korea (Chain)
The Paris Baguette BLT is the bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich as rendered by Korea's dominant French-style bakery chain, sold cold from the case in soft sandwich bread rather than the crusty loaf the name might suggest. The angle is the sauce. A Western BLT leans on mayonnaise and the salt of the bacon, but the Korean bakery version typically reaches for a sweetened mayonnaise or a honey-mustard, which pulls the whole sandwich toward the gentle, slightly sweet register Korean palates favor and gives it a character distinct from the original. The balance question is whether that sweetness frames the bacon and tomato or smothers the contrast they are supposed to provide.
The build follows the chain's chilled template. Soft white sandwich bread, often crustless, encloses cooked bacon, leaf lettuce, and tomato slices, dressed with the sweetened mayo or mustard rather than a plain one. Because it is made centrally and shipped cold, the engineering problem is moisture: tomato weeps, bacon firms in the chill, and bread shipped damp goes pasty. Good execution keeps the bread soft but intact, the bacon with some chew rather than gone limp, the tomato seeded or drained so it does not flood the crumb, and the sweet dressing dialed back enough that the bacon's salt still lands. Sloppy execution is bread soaked through at the tomato line, bacon that has turned to a soft strip with no bite, or a sauce so sweet that the sandwich reads more like a dessert spread than a BLT.
It varies mostly by what is added to the core three and by which sweet dressing the kitchen runs. Some versions add egg or cheese for more body; some lean honey-mustard while others stay on sweetened mayo. It sits within Paris Baguette's broad chilled-sandwich line next to the chain's club, egg salad, and chicken-breast builds, part of the same bakery-café format that competes with convenience-store sandwiches and the rival chain Tous les Jours for the Korean grab-and-go lunch.
